Liedinfos: {title} bzw. {t}, {subtitle} bzw. {st}, {artist}, {composer}, {lyricist}, {album}, {year}, {key}, {time}, {tempo}, {capo}, {duration} sowie {meta: name wert}. Beim Speichern im Editor übernimmt Notenpult Titel, Interpreten, Komponisten, Texter, Album, Jahr, Tonart, Taktart, Tempo und Dauer in die Stückdaten.
Teile: {start_of_verse}/{end_of_verse} (kurz {sov}/{eov}), {start_of_chorus}/{end_of_chorus} ({soc}/{eoc}), {start_of_bridge}/{end_of_bridge} ({sob}/{eob}).
Tabulaturen: {start_of_tab} … {end_of_tab} ({sot}/{eot}, ebenso {start_of_grid}/{end_of_grid}) – wird in Festbreitenschrift genau so angezeigt.
Kommentare: {comment} bzw. {c} oder {highlight}, kursiv mit {comment_italic} bzw. {ci}, eingerahmt mit {comment_box} bzw. {cb}.
Seitenumbruch: {new_page} bzw. {np}.
Text bearbeiten
Notenpult shows lyrics with chords as clean pages – with transposing, capo, font size and a built-in editor.
Supported formats
Notenpult reads:
Plain text files (.txt): every line is shown exactly as it is in the file.
ChordPro (.cho, .chordpro, .crd, .pro): text with chords in square brackets, e.g. [C]Hello [G7]world, and directives in curly braces, e.g. {title: My song}.
You import these files like sheet music: via Import scores, as a folder or by drag and drop (see Importing files). Chord sheets from the internet are easiest to add via the clipboard (see From the clipboard). An empty song is created with New song (ChordPro) (see New song).
Chords above the lyrics
Many chord sheets have the chords on their own line above the lyrics. Notenpult recognises such chord lines and places the chords at the right spot in the lyrics below – always in text files, and in ChordPro files when they contain no chords in square brackets.
Supported ChordPro directives
Song info: {title} or {t}, {subtitle} or {st}, {artist}, {composer}, {lyricist}, {album}, {year}, {key}, {time}, {tempo}, {capo}, {duration} and {meta: name value}. When you save in the editor, Notenpult copies title, artists, composers, lyricists, album, year, key, time signature, tempo and duration into the score details.
Sections: {start_of_verse}/{end_of_verse} (short {sov}/{eov}), {start_of_chorus}/{end_of_chorus} ({soc}/{eoc}), {start_of_bridge}/{end_of_bridge} ({sob}/{eob}). The start may carry a label, e.g. {soc: Chorus 2}. The chorus gets a bar at the margin.
Repeat chorus: {chorus} inserts the last chorus again.
Tablature: {start_of_tab} … {end_of_tab} ({sot}/{eot}, likewise {start_of_grid}/{end_of_grid}) – shown exactly as written in a monospaced font.
Comments: {comment} or {c} or {highlight}, italic with {comment_italic} or {ci}, boxed with {comment_box} or {cb}.
Page break: {new_page} or {np}.
Lines starting with # are notes inside the file and are not shown.
Other directives are ignored. Chord diagrams ({define}), columns and font markup inside the text are not supported.
How text pages work
Notenpult wraps the text onto A4 pages and shows them like PDF pages. That is why everything works as with sheet music: turning pages with a pedal, half pages, bookmarks, annotations, setlists and PDF export. If you change the font size or the text, the number of pages may change.
Editing the text
To open the built-in editor:
Open the song in the viewer.
Tap the middle of the page to show the control bar.
Tap Tools › Edit text. The entry only appears for text and ChordPro scores.
At the top of the editor you find:
Insert chord brackets: inserts [] at the cursor. If text is selected, it is put in brackets.
Insert directive (ChordPro only): a menu with ready-made snippets such as {title: …}, {key: …}, {capo: …}, verse, chorus, bridge, {chorus}, tablature and {new_page}. For sections, selected text is wrapped right away.
Preview: shows the text as it will look in the viewer – with your display settings. Back to editing returns.
Save: saves and closes the editor.
For ChordPro files, a line above the text field shows the most important notations as a cheat sheet. If you leave the editor with unsaved changes, Notenpult asks Discard your changes?.
Transposing and capo
The quick controls for text scores appear at the bottom of the viewer's control bar (tap the middle of the page):
Transpose down a semitone / Transpose up a semitone: transposes all chords. The display Transpose shows the shift (up to ±11 semitones).
Capo one fret lower / Capo one fret higher: sets a capo (0–11). The chords are then shown as shapes for the capo; the key shown stays the sounding key.
Smaller text / Larger text: changes the font size.
When transposing, Notenpult spells the chords with ♯ or ♭ to suit the target key – taken from {key} or else from the first chord. Above the song you see title, artist, key, capo, time signature and tempo; the key is transposed along.
{capo} in the file is only information for the header. To have the shapes converted, set the capo with the quick controls.
All settings are saved per score. On scores of other group members they remain your personal setting – the owner's original does not change.
Adjusting the display
Tap Text display in the quick controls. There you find:
Hide chords: lyrics only, e.g. for singers.
Hide comments: hides {comment} lines.
Shorten chorus repeats: {chorus} only shows a short "Chorus" note instead of the whole chorus – this saves pages.
Monospaced font: all characters equally wide, like a typewriter. In the browser a real monospaced font is not always available, depending on the system.
Chord colour and Lyrics colour: colours for chords and lyrics.
Reset text display: everything back to default.
These settings also apply per score. Night mode works on text pages just as on sheet music.
