Auto-Scroll

Was passiert, hängt vom Seitenlayout ab:

Auto-scroll

Auto-scroll turns or scrolls the music by itself – handy when you need both hands on the instrument and have no pedal.

Starting and stopping auto-scroll

You start and stop auto-scroll with the action Auto-scroll start/stop:

While auto-scroll runs, its button in the quick action box is highlighted. The same action stops it again.

What happens depends on the page layout:

  • In the Vertical scrolling layout the music glides upwards evenly.
  • In all other layouts Notenpult turns the page at fixed intervals – as if you pressed the pedal yourself.

Auto-scroll starts at the current spot and stops by itself at the end. In a setlist it carries on past the end of a score into the next one; stop it there if needed. You can turn forward or back yourself at any time; auto-scroll then keeps going at the same pace.

Modes

Notenpult knows four kinds of auto-scroll. Each belongs to one score:

  • Continuous – the music moves evenly until the end. In the page layouts the page is turned at fixed intervals.
  • Scroll a part, then pause – part of the screen (e.g. half its height) is moved on, then there is a pause; then it continues.
  • Pause on every page – the music stays put for a set time, then the page is turned or scrolled on by almost a screen.
  • Fixed total duration – everything from the current spot to the end is spread evenly over a duration, e.g. 3 minutes.

In addition, a score can have a start delay so that you still have time to come in after starting.

Without settings of its own, a score runs in Continuous mode at about 20 seconds per screen. For pieces with an exact tempo, turning after bars with the metronome or turn points for a recording also work well.

Setting up auto-scroll

The auto-scroll window
  1. Open the score and tap the centre to show the controls.
  2. Choose Tools › Auto-scroll. The auto-scroll panel appears at the bottom.
  3. Choose the Mode and set the values (see below) with −/+ or the slider.
  4. Try the setting right away with the start button at the top left. While auto-scroll runs, every change applies at once.
  5. Tap Save for this score so the values apply again next time.

Which values the panel shows depends on the mode:

  • Speed (for Continuous and Scroll a part, then pause): how many seconds one screen takes. In the page layouts this is the time between two page turns.
  • Part of the screen and Pause (for Scroll a part, then pause).
  • Pause per page (for Pause on every page).
  • Total duration in minutes:seconds (for Fixed total duration).
  • Start delay (always): waiting time after starting before it begins.

Unsaved changes apply until you close the score; the panel then shows Not saved. The back arrow (Back to the saved values) discards them.

The settings belong to the score. If it is another person's score from your group, Notenpult saves them for you only – the original stays unchanged.

Faster and slower

While auto-scroll runs, you can adjust the pace in steps of about 10 %:

  • in the quick action box: while auto-scroll runs, it shows Auto-scroll slower and Auto-scroll faster – in performance mode too,
  • with a pedal key, tap zone or MIDI action set to Auto-scroll faster or Auto-scroll slower (see Pedal actions).

Depending on the mode this changes the speed, the pause or the total duration. These changes are not saved; to keep them, open the auto-scroll panel and tap Save for this score.
